Out of concern for the health and safety of our visitors, staff, and partners, following recent advice received from the Regional and National Governments, we have no choice but to cancel the 7th LUMIX Festival for Young Visual Journalism in its original format.
Since 2008, the Lumix Festival for Young Visual Journalism has been an event where an international specialist audience and photography enthusiasts have come together. Visitors have been able to experience an inspiring program of exhibitions, presentations, and discussions that gave insight into trends and perspectives of image-based journalism and visual storytelling.
In 2020, the Expo Plaza was again to become a place to foster the dialogue among experts, professionals, and amateurs. To show and celebrate top-class visual journalism made by people who are the future of their craft.
Unfortunately, recent developments around the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the consequential measures, and rules of conduct are not allowing us to prepare and host the Festival as responsibly as we would have liked to do.
Over the following weeks, we will present our response to changes of the situation.
What we actually wanted to do here, was provide information about journey and ticket prices. We wanted to announce the presentations and tell you when you could attend them in the auditorium.
But everything is different now.
Nonetheless, in order to present the most exciting visual journalism projects and lead the discussion concerning the possibilities of visual storytelling of our times, over the following weeks we will devote our website to presenting projects that are exclusively photographic as well as those in digital formats. You will also find additional content, like interviews with curators and photographers on the topics that we actually wanted to discuss at Expo Plaza this summer.
Let’s use the technologies that we have and try out new possibilities.
On behalf of the Lumix Festival team

P.S. If you have already purchased vouchers to visit the festival, you can return them to the outlet where you originally bought them.
