Lars Lindemann became a self-taught photo editor, photographer and curator after studying geography, history and education. He has been freelancing for various magazines before joining the GEO photo department as the Senior Photo Editor at GEOkompakt, one of GEO´s several line extensions on science. Parallel to his journalistic work Lars Lindemann taught photo editing at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Dortmund/Germany and curated photo exhibitions. Lars Lindemann has been a jury member and reviewer for national and international photo contests, including the World Press Photo Award, Greenpeace Photo Award and The Photoville Fence and reviews such as The New York Portfolio Review and the Canon Ambassador Panel Review. Since 2015 he´s GEO magazine´s Director of Photography and Deputy Creative Director. Lars Lindemann and his colleagues’ work was earning several awards from the Lead Academy, German Art Directors Club and a Pictures of the Year International Award for Best Use of photography in a print magazine. In 2019 Lars Lindemann became an appointed member of the German Photographic Society DGPH. He is one of the founders of the Hamburg Portfolio Review.
